Chrome extension and website
Privacy Policy
ClipFromX processes only the information needed to detect downloadable media on public X posts and deliver the video quality a user explicitly selects.
Last updated: July 20, 2026
Information we process
The Chrome extension reads the current x.com or twitter.com page locally to identify public video posts. This can include visible post text, public post URLs, and public author information displayed on that page.
Only after a user asks to resolve or download a video does the extension send the selected public post URL, media index, and requested quality to https://clipfromx.com. It does not read or transmit X passwords, authentication cookies, private messages, or private-account content.
The resolver URL selected in extension settings is stored with Chrome Storage Sync. ClipFromX does not use that setting to build a browsing profile.
How information is used
Selected public post information is used only to locate the requested media, list available formats, prepare the chosen file, start the browser download, prevent abuse, and maintain service reliability. ClipFromX does not sell user data or use it for personalized advertising, credit decisions, or unrelated profiling.
Services involved
The ClipFromX server may contact X services and X media delivery endpoints to resolve the public post and retrieve the requested media. When the primary resolver cannot read a public post, the server may send the public post identifier to the FxTwitter public metadata service as a fallback. Hosting and network providers may process standard request metadata such as IP address, timestamp, request path, and user agent for security and delivery.
ClipFromX uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate website usage and improve the service. Google Analytics may process page URLs, referrers, browser and device information, approximate location derived from network information, and interaction data under Google's own terms. ClipFromX does not send X passwords, authentication cookies, private messages, or private-account content to Google Analytics.
If Chrome Storage Sync is enabled in the user's browser, Google may sync the saved resolver setting under Google's own privacy terms.
Retention and security
Prepared media files are temporary and are removed after delivery or expiration; ClipFromX does not maintain a permanent media library. Operational logs are retained only as reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, and service reliability, then removed through normal log rotation. Data sent to the production resolver is protected with HTTPS.
User choices
Users can avoid transmission by not selecting a post for resolution, remove the extension at any time, and change or clear the resolver setting through the extension's settings page. ClipFromX is designed for public content the user owns, is authorized to use, or is otherwise permitted to download.
Limited Use
ClipFromX's use of information received from Google APIs, including Chrome extension APIs, adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
